RUBBER TRACK REPAIR

Damaged Rubber Track
Damaged Rubber Track

A few questions that we are often asked at motiondynamics™:

1. Is it possible to repair damaged or broken rubber tracks?

2. Is it possible to re-tread or "re-cap" rubber tracks?

3. Would it be better to try to repair broken tracks or to buy new rubber tracks?

4. When I replace my damaged tracks, is buying used tracks a good choice?

5. When I replace my damaged tracks, what are the differences between all of the various track choices?

A few answers that we provide to those questions:

1. Maybe. There are companies that can re-tread or "re-cap" broken tracks- particularly large agricultural tracks (508mm/20" width or larger). It may make sense for very large tracks but it is probably not cost effective to try to repair smaller rubber tracks (450mm/18" width or smaller) as the process is reasonably expensive.

2. Maybe. Look at answer 1.

3. For tracks smaller than 450mm/18" width, it is better and more cost effective to replace your old damaged tracks with new tracks.

4. Not really. Used tracks are used- you have no idea what is wrong with them. They could have an internal cord tear...a nightmare waiting to happen; moreover, used tracks are not covered under warranty. If you are really low on money or your cash flow is slow, you could try used tracks but it would be a crap-shoot. We recommend that you not take that risk- buy a new track that is covered by a warranty. Better to be safe than sorry. Besides, used tracks are not all that much cheaper than a new track at wholesale. We recommend that you spend a little more and insure yourself and your business- buy a new track.

5. Call us now at 812.853.2583...we would love to explain the differences to you.
